Acacia Adventure Holidays has identified a new breed of “camping converts,” who are forgoing luxury for a more intrepid experience. When questioned 15% of their adventurers said that the ongoing credit crunch was behind their decision to camp, while over 70% of this group reported that they were now hooked on less extravagant holidays in Africa.

Climb Aragats Mount in Armenia

Aragats (4091 m. above the sea level) is the highest peak of Armenia and Transcaucasia. It is an ancient extinct volcano with 4 peaks and a beautiful crater.

There are two main routes to climb Aragats – ascending the Southern peak, which is the easiest one, and conquering the Northern, the highest peak, which will require a good physical fit and some mountaineering equipment.

Visit The Bahá’í Gardens in Haifa

The Bahá’í Gardens in Haifa comprise a staircase of nineteen terraces extending all the way up the northern slope of Mount Carmel.

The geometry of the complex is built around the axis connecting it with the City of ‘Akko, which also has great historical and sacred significance for Bahá’ís.

At its heart stands the golden-domed Shrine of the Báb, which is the resting place of the Prophet-Herald of the Bahá’í Faith.

Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences, Gardens and Architecture

My posts have touched upon the development of the Turia gardens, with glimpses of Cabecera and the Bioparc at the western boundary. Continuing along, past the botanical gardens, we put aside the romantic setting of Monforte and Jardines del Real for another time.

Proceeding along the Turia, as the walkway wraps around the city’s lovely old quarter, we meandered along Ricardo Bofill’s contemporary layout adjacent to the music palace.

Lanzarote – Island of Fire

The small Canary Island of Lanzarote was subjected to one of the world´s longest ever volcanic eruptions in the 1730´s. Which submerged around one quarter of the island beneath a sea of molten lava. Forcing many Lanzaroteños to flee for new lives abroad.

Today however the spent volcanoes and eerie lavascapes of the Timanfaya Volcano Park are the number one attraction on the island. With around one million tourists visiting annually.
