St.Jean d’Aulps is a traditional Savoyard village in the heart of the world-famous Portes du Soleil ski area just south of Lake Geneva. Overlooking the village from the hillside above is the hamlet of La Grande Terche, an agreeable blend of rustic old buildings and tasteful modern developments at the base of the ski area.
Neither St Jean nor its satellite station offers any British packaged accommodation. Instead, the resort is very much run by the locals who openly welcome a wide and cosmopolitan clientele. If you are tired of feeling like another statistic in a multi-million pound industry, and would prefer a vacation in more traditional surroundings, then this could be the resort for you.
